California Community Power Issues Request for Proposals for Scheduling Coordinator and Storage Optimization Vendor Services.

CC Power prepares for first resources reaching commercial operations
Responses due July 25, 2025

June 23, 2025 – California Community Power (“CC Power”), a joint powers authority representing nine community choice aggregators (“CCAs”) serving over 6.7 million residents and 30,000 GWh annually across California, today issued a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for scheduling coordinator (“SC”) and storage optimization vendor (“OV”) services.

CC Power is seeking an SC and OV to meet the long-term needs for projects managed on behalf of CC Power and its CCA members. CC Power’s first resource needing SC and OV services will be the 75 MW / 600 MWh Tumbleweed long duration, lithium-ion battery storage project expected to achieve a commercial operation date of April 15, 2026. Following Tumbleweed, CC Power expects several geothermal resources to come online between 2027 and 2028, and by the 2030-31 timeframe, CC Power may have additional intra-CAISO compressed air storage and/or pumped hydroelectric long duration storage resources and out-of-state wind resources in its portfolio. In addition, there will likely be other potential resources as determined by procurement targets set by CC Power’s CCA members. Further, certain of CC Power’s members may have interest in securing their own SC and OV services for their own portfolios, as identified through this RFP.
